Are these your cakes?

Cakes

I love a good mystery, and this image of cakes was sent to my phone this afternoon, from a number I didn’t recognise. I’m intrigued, if these are yours, do tell! Is the missing cake significant? Is this a cryptic spoiler ahead of this weekend’s Dr Who season finale?

The sad thing is, I’m sure I recognise that tray…

There seems to be one cake missing. You don’t think that is a hint, perhaps?

Undoubtedly a party, right?
Perhaps someone is blaming you for the missing one?
Maychance they know you like coconut frosting?
maybe a taunt like Kirk says. A party without you!?

Either way, rude and causticly mean!

Perhaps it’s a cryptic merger offer, the missing cake is you

Were they sent from the future, like this post? (It’s the 27th still here in Blighty!)

If you watch for a while, the missing cake changes. It’s one of those spinning progress indicators, just a very slow one.

Brilliant! :-D

You see, the big chocolate cake in the middle, that’s one of the Toclafane. You can tell by the little chocolate spikes on top and the almost-Gallifreyan pattern painted on. The fact that one of the white cakes is missing is evidence of the Toclafane’s decimation. Admittedly, it’s more 13% rather than 10%, but it’s close enough. So, obviously, the white cakes are humanity, diminished by the power of the Master.

But what’s this next to the plate? A candle? Could that be the Doctor’s sonic screwdriver? And the card next to the plate, a blue-green VW bus — quite boxy, is it not? A big blue box?

This photo shows the opening scenes of the finale of Doctor Who, Earth under siege from a cruel alien force, consuming all of humanity like the tasty combination of flour, sugar, and eggs, the Doctor nowhere to be seen and his familiar equipment altered in a way to render it almost unrecognisable. What’s happening to Jack? Where’s Martha? Is there any hope at all?

But what’s that — in the background — is it a pair of legs? Wearing black trousers much like Martha Jones? Could she be coming to save us?

Only Saturday will tell.

dont you see a bus on a card? He picked one cake while making a picture.

Judging by the card I’d say it was a birthday party for a pre-teen boy. If the mystery becomes to great I suppose you could always try to call the number. :-D

I take that back, the candle and the envelope lead me to think it was a girl’s birthday party.

And the light is coming in from the left! A window perhaps? Significant.

PhotoShop one more cake off the plate, and send it back to the same number – see what happens…

Maybe it’s some kind of coconut-iced henge. With the light coming in from the window at a certain time on a certain day (when the picture was taken?) a shadow is cast in the centre which resembles a chocolate cake… Mmm druid cake. Either that or you’re missing a party.
