built for the future is a post on The Hickensian

The deadline is over and the entries for the ReUSEIT! design competition are online. Many have felt (myself included) that Jakob Nielsen’s site is about as inviting to read as 100 page legal document, which defeats its purpose. Here was a chance to demonstrate how much more usable the site could be.

The contest rules state that designs must be “entries must be usable, accessible, and pleasing to the eye” and my favourite is by Patrick Lauke, a design which features a full frontal of the man himself. Surprisingly, this isn’t as scary as it sounds, it really adds life and personality to a layout, which is well thought out and inviting to read. Nice work Patrick!

The Hickensian is the journal of Jon Hicks, one half of the creative partnership Hicksdesign. See the work we do.
