hicksdesign is sexy!

I was chuffed beyond belief that Zeldman put up a link to my site under the heading ‘sexy standards based sites’ – it really made my day. Then the fear came – I remembered all those niggly issues with the site that I hadn’t solved yet (Couldn’t get to all the content in IE for Mac or 800×600 screen resolutions, and missing scrollbars in Opera 7). There were also some issues that I hadn’t come across, but folks were kind enough to let me know without being overly critical.

I’ve spent time on all these issues, testing it to death, and I reckon they’re now all sorted. When I get a chance I’ll write up my findings for a future article on vertical centering in CSS and the workarounds I discovered.

Please continue to leave comments if you come across any other problems. At the moment this is just my personal site, but my intention in the future is to move my portfolio site into here as well. I’d like the place to be as tidy as possible when it comes…

Interesting concept but if the browser window smaller then the body, it causes clipping problems. For me on Win IE5 and Mac Mozilla 1.3.1 the left side and the top are always clipped even with the scroolbars at max.

If you're using a screen resolution of 1024x768 or more, all you should have to do is make your window bigger! If you're using 800x600, then (hopefully!) javascript detection should implement a different stylesheet for you, and everything will fit in your window. Do tell me more...

Opera 7.2B renders the scrollbar, so that may very well be one less thing to worry about.

Congratulations, it's a nice website, really nice.

Anyways, Mozilla should implement mousewheel scrolling on Overflows... so i can scroll with the mousewheel.

The rest it's a diamond.

Great site.

Just noticed a possible bug though. Your change style menu doesn't seem to work on Mozilla 1.4 / Win 2000 (ie. no response when clicked upon), but the styles will change if accessed through the View>>Use Style menu option on said browser. This might of course just be a Mozilla bug...

IE6/Win2K (once de-proxed) works fine, as does Opera7 (same platform).

Liking the bbc betsie theme - great for accessing the text.
