@media is upon us
Hooray! @media is finally upon us! I’m really looking forward to meeting people that I’ve only had email conversations with, people I met at SXSW, and people I haven’t heard of yet. The speaker lineup and subject matter looks great, but apologies in advance if I fall asleep during a seminar. This may be only opportunity to catch up.
Come and say hi, I’m very approachable…

That’s not true, Jon is actually quite ruthless in person. If he isn’t demeaning you with a verbal assault, it’s probably because he already kicked you in the groin.Mark Boulton said 1169 days ago:
Thanks Jason, I shall bear that in mind…Jeroen Mulder said 1169 days ago:
That’s what I heard as well Jason. In fact, rumours go that Jon would wait for you at customs and upon setting foot on British soil he’d kick you in the groin—though gently, just so you can get accustomed to his future full-blown, mega kickings.Hence me sitting here across the pond in The Netherlands. I am terrified. That and possibly the fact you can’t pay with paperclips and peanuts..

Great, thread hijacked by the man with a porn star moustacheJason Santa Maria said 1169 days ago:
Oh, I shaved that the very next day! I couldn’t really walk around like that, you know, outside the confines of a video game-themed quadruple summer camp slasher birthday party.Mrs hicks said 1169 days ago:
No moustache! tell me you still have the dungarees …ps.

I do indeed Mrs. Hicks :DMaybe next year I can come to England and partake… can I crash on your floor? You could just pretend I am the third Hicks wee one.
Rob Weychert said 1169 days ago:
Yeah, that Hicks guy is reasonably friendly… I guess. Just keep an eye on your wallet or purse, if you know what I mean. Oh, and everyone fear not: Stan’s (“Jason’s”) wonderful moustache will return. I’ll see to it.oneighturbo said 1169 days ago:
and we just started talkin about flying us out to some of these… just a we bit late. owell. be safe!Steven Marshall said 1169 days ago:
bq. [sobbing in a corner][joins the sobbing]
I, unfortunately, won’t be able to join the fun thanks to a project running (very) over deadline and budget…
And I’d planned on buying a couple of rounds in an effort to make some new friends at the shindigs afterwards, too (and to thank Jon for appraising my crappy design skills months ago)!
When’s the next big UK-based webby event, anyone?
Steven Marshall said 1169 days ago:
I hate to double post, but bq. works in preview but not ‘in the wild’... That, and my comment was apparently posted 10 hours ago, not thirty seconds after I pressed submit…Am I in some sort of time skip type deal ?
Mrs hicks said 1169 days ago:
Jason – what do you mean pretend?Jason Santa Maria said 1169 days ago:
Why Mrs. Hicks… I thought we agreed to never talk about you and my father again… it didn’t turn out as planned.Mrs hicks said 1169 days ago:
Damn, tricked by the silver tongued devil.[better leave it there, huh?]
Steven Woods said 1169 days ago:
Are we talking handlebar moustache here?Or a ginger-but-greying-with-yesterdays-cornflakes-inside moustache?
Dumbo said 1168 days ago:
Geekery … are these people that attend this conference all true geeks? What is the first thing what they do when these conference geeks wake up?
turn on their computers … like opening the curtains and window to let in some fresh air
Mathew said 1167 days ago:
Come and say hi, I’m very approachable…I did, and it’s true. Despite my being horrified that I could recognise you in the registration cure by the back of your head. That’s just weird.
The conference went really well, especially for a first time I thought. Douglas Bowman has the world swishest presentation slide layouts.

rofl @ this thread….wish I was on your side of the pond :)

Hi Jon,Just in the Apple Store (and hijacked a Powerbook G4) – very nice in here!
Again just wanted to back up Matthew’s comment and say it was great to have a little chat to you (as you were trying to escape the bar) – much appreciated! And good to know it’s not just me who has gone all slushy in front of Mr. Bowman!
Was a really great conference, I think most will agree mainly down to the social aspect which as important as listening to the great and good of Web Standards and Accesibility.

Very approachable indeed. It was great meeting you, and thanks for the beer!Ben Ward said 1165 days ago:
Thanks for being such a friendly fellow Jon, it was great to meet you (albeit at Steve Marshall’s loss). I’ll try to remember that I owe you a pint, too. Mind you, given how badly I’m doing remembering the names of other people I met, that could go somewhat awry.It was a fantastic event, I’ll have to get around to a proper write up of my own soon. Prehaps when I get home this evening…
