Tiger Theme for Omniweb 5.5

I’ve finally updated my Omniweb theme to work with the sneaky peeks

Tiger theme for Omniweb 5.5

Changes for this version include:

  • New Icons: Mark page, Next Mark, Previous Mark, Favourites Folder, News Feed Folder. Thanks go to Dan Carson who created the ‘Mark page’ and ‘Favourites folder’ icons.
  • Added ‘small size’ icons for the main toolbar icons.
  • Improved close tab icons.
  • Added the large bookmarks image for the tab drawer.
  • Redone splash page.
  • It no longer replaces the Omniweb application icon.
  • Downloads window – tweaked to allow it to be resized narrower (like Safari). This may compress text when smaller, but I prefer a narrower window
  • Workspaces window- Changed from a ‘utility’ window to a normal one, with margins removed.
  • New Change (4.5.06)- Improved the smoothness of the Safari-esque buttons. Please re-download and re-install to get the improved icons.

As before, if you want to pick and choose which icons you want to install, all the original files are included, as well as goodies folders of applescripts and sample workspaces. Don’t forget to back up Omniweb first.

The one piece of the puzzle that was missing – this makes me very happy indeed.

You bastard. You’re giving me more Mac envy!

It looks truly beautifull as well as incredibly usable…sigh

Great! Thanks.

Howcome the edge of the back and forward buttons are jaggy, ie. you cut and pasted them instead of pulling the actual graphics out of Safari? Hopefully I’m wrong though.

Omniweb is but half the browser without this theme. Thanks, Jon!

Absolutely wonderful. Thanks very much, it does indeed make OW look nicer, much nicer in fact.

Does anyone know if it’s possible to make the thumbnail tabs take up less (vertical) space, to be more like SafariStand’s?
It’s the only thing stopping me from ‘switching’ from safari.

Spot on. Thank you, Jon!

Sweet, thanks.
I just wish it came with an uninstaller.

Joe said 744 days ago:

P.S Thanks for the nice themes :-)

Jon Hicks said 744 days ago:

Josue – I used to include an uninstaller, but then all you have to do is copy your backed up copy of the app over the one you’re using! Easy!

Jon Hicks said 744 days ago:

@Chris – They shouln’t be jaggy, and they’re certainly not taken from screenshots (horror!!) ;o). The bottom of those buttons does have a shadow in the corners that I’m thinking about removing, but I presume you’re not talking about that?

@ Joe – No, it isn’t. personally I prefer Omniweb’s height, as it decreases the amount of visual noise in the interface.

I am loving the updated Omni theme! Omniweb continues to be my favorite browser and your iTunes theme makes the experience even better. Thanks for the love!

Chris McElligott said 743 days ago:

@Jon – Take a look at the difference between Safari and Omniweb – Safari’s is much nicer.

#17

Jon Hicks said 743 days ago:

Chris – What I think you were referring to was the extra shadow I’d put into the bottom corners. I’d been deliberating about that, but you’re right, it looks better without. I’ve put up a fresh installer, re-download from the link in the post and re-install, then all should be fine!

Chris McElligott said 743 days ago:

@Jon – Thanks for putting up the new version. The extra shadow made it look like a cut and paste job with zero aliasing on the corners.

Huge inprovement! Minor suggestion – if the IFPkgFlagAuthorizationAction key in the PKG Info.plist is set to AdminAuthorization the installer will also work if you run under a non-administrative account.

Nice stuff. The only problem is that on my copy (OW 5.5 SP9) the search box has expanded to gigantic proprotions, taking up vast amounts of my toolbar – a problem on my 1024×768 iBook display. Is there any way of making it smaller?

#22

Alex Reid said 740 days ago:

Ahah, fixed it. To change the length of the search box, quit Omniweb (and, as always, make a backup); open up its application bundle (control-click on its icon in the finder and choose ‘Show Package Contents’. Then browse to Contents/Resources/English.lproj/ and open the file ‘BrowserWindow.toolbar’. Find these lines:

SearchField = {

paletteLabel = “Search Field”; label = “Search”; nullMenu = ”(Search)”; minSize = ( 250, 21.0 ); maxSize = ( 180, 21.0 ); };

And change the numbers in ‘minSize’ and ‘maxSize’ to taste. A value of 180, 21.0 for minSize (I assume this is pixels) will give a fairly standard-sized box once you save and reopen OW.

Jon Hicks said 740 days ago:

The Omniweb default is 180, but part of the theme is to widen the maximum size of the search field (I find it far too small). Its far from gigantic though, unless you’re on an iBook!
