You can say I love you with Helvetica (and Rest of the World shipping)

New Helvetica Notebooks from Veer

Sigh. There goes more lovely Veer merchandise that can’t get shipped to the UK. I guess I’ll just have to add this to the list of other Veer merchandise out of my reach.

Now I’m sure there are plenty of folks in US or Canada who would kindly re-post these items, but I’m not the only one who’d lap up the opportunity to spend in the name of Veer. Too many for someone to handle – we need to be able to order from the source! C’mon Veer!

Id snap this up in a second. Why wont they deliver to the UK though?. Im not registered at Veer so I cant investigate for myself but it seems very unusual.

Add someone to the list of Aussies who wanted this also, I got all the way to the order me button and wham, no go.

Please Veer…

Jon Hicks said 401 days ago:

Thats the thing Leebo, its US and Canada only, but no idea why!

@Russell – I’ve changed the title of the post to be non euro-centric. I guess I’d always thought of this as a UK problem, but of course it isn’t!

Hell yeah!

Veer email to taunt me with their wares but then won’t actually sell them to me… the teases!

I hate it when companies that sell online will only ship to the US and/or Canada! It’s so typically bloody American!

They seem to forget that www stands for world wide web.

Harrumph!

I completely agree! I could use a veer fix every now and again, but seeing as I’m in The Netherlands, that’s impossible for now.. C’mon Veer!

Don’t know whether you have come across it but usabox.com do exactly that sort of forwarding; their rates are slightly above standard but hey, it’s an option. They ship worldwide and the Basic plan has no monthly charges, you just use it when you want – or not.

Couldn’t agree more. Its crazy that they don’t!

Simon said 401 days ago:

Another aussie here wants to get some Veer gear. I’m not a designer, and wouldn’t buy any of their other products, but I’d gladly shell out many bucks for their merch. usabox looks like a good option, but the pricing is pretty steep, even with our reasonably good exchange rate these days.

Has anyone emailed them about this yet? Obviously I wouldnt want to get their backs up with another email, although I can see the benefits in petitioning them to change their shipping policy.

If no one has heard from them about it Ill send them an email to see what their position is and see if they can come to some solution for us all. Im sure they’d be pleased to know their merchandise is in such demand overseas (as it is to them) so if they’ve got any business sense they’ll do what they can to accomodate us all.

Leebo, I emailed them a while ago, and they said, basically, that shipping costs plus import taxes would be too expensive for us proles outside the US. Well, words to that effect, anyway. They said they were looking into it but that was months ago and they still only ship to the US and Canada.

#12

Leebo said 401 days ago:

Ah ok Paul. I mean I understand there unwillingness due to costs but surely its our choice to pay the import costs etc. Maybe the price would make it prohibitive for many I dont know.
Now only if we knew someone with lots of money to order a box of these to sell them on to us.

Oliver said 401 days ago:

Yeah, I emailed them about their stuff a while back, here’s the response I got:

Hi Oliver, Thanks for your e-mail! Unfortunately Veer doesn’t have the ability to ship any merchandise outside of North America. We encourage international customers to locate a friend or colleaugue within North America, who we can ship the items
to. Sorry for the inconvenience, but Veer doesn’t have this option available to us at this time. Please contact Veer Customer Service if you have any questions or concerns. Regards, Paul Friesen (Customer Sales and Service)

So, that’s exactly what I did – I got the awesome Whalesalad to ship them over for me… and I’m seriously considering asking him to do this again now I see this lovely piece!

“surely its our choice to pay the import costs”

Yeah, that’s pretty much how I responded, but they weren’t having any of it. I’ll just have to spend my money elsewhere.

Maybe it’s masochistic but I still enjoy getting their emails and trawling their site despite knowing they won’t ship to New Zealand.

Leebo said 400 days ago:

@Oliver Oh that we all had a Whalesalad.. ;)
Seriously, its a shame this cant be overcome with so many of us after these notebooks in particular. A little Hicksdesign side business perhaps? (Joking) :)

I too have emailed them a few times about this, but got the same bizarre response. I pointed out that Threadless seem to cope just fine, amongst many other companies, but no response.

And yes, import duties are our responsibility. They ain’t nice, but at least its not something they have to worry about. I guess they think that people don’t want to to buy because of that though – how wrong they are!

Absolutely agree, we need goodies!
Jon: surely this is a good opportunity for someone else to produce typographical goodies for the starved amongst us!

I really laughed the 1st time I saw those images, and yeah, it’s really a shame that Veer is doing that. In this cases I try using a PO Box I pay in Miami, just 1 or 2 weeks delay and a 5$ fee won’t hurt anyone :D

Agreed! We demand to get our Veer on! I bet I alone could make it pay off for them…!
